In the article
by Kaprow, he talks about what he considers what can and cant be art depending
on the point of view. When I think of art I think of something that is abstract
or a art museum. Kaprow did discuss that art is related to “ art identifying
frame”. I enjoyed reading how the author discussed how things can be considered
art regardless if its not in a museum or gallery. I enjoyed thinking about my
life as one big piece of art.
Overall,
this article made me really think. I wish the article was longer because it
just kept me reading. I liked how the author related brushing your teeth to
art. Also I liked how the author incorporated the topic of what the limit is
between what is “art” and “non-art”. I wish that topic was more in depth which
is why I wished the article was longer
The
article “Deserts” By Weschler talks about an artist who sells his gallery to
work and explore ideas in the desert. When first reading this I thought the guy
was insane. Who goes into a desert for ideas? He stated at the end of the
article that he didn’t tell his friends or family about his experience in the desert,
which I thought was bizarre. I am not sure what the concept of this article was
but I think the general idea was that there is no such thing as a stupid idea? And
you will get something out of everything you at least try.
Overall this article was very odd.
Maybe I am not in the artistic mindset or something but I did not see the point
in wasting so much time in a desert and not get anything out of it…. THAT HAS
TO BE FRUSTRATING !.... and these are reasons why I can not be an artist…
In the last article about George Saunders, Joel
Lovell writes about how Saunders experienced a life threatening plane crash.
Although the plane crash altered his life forever, it was uplifting to read
about how Saunders changed his life because of the plane crash. Saunders
learned after the plane crash how valuable life truly is and how to not take
life for granted considering his life was almost ended from that plane crash. Saunders
took his accident and put it into his book to reach out to people.
Lovell does a great job in this article
because not only is this article really uplifting it also makes you think twice
about the life you are living and if that’s really how you want to be
portrayed. I really liked this article because I like to live by the quote “tomorrow
is never promised” as much as I can. Its just amazing how one experience can
change a person forever and in a good way!
